The meaning of the wolf

The wolf is an important animal in Nordic culture.

In Norse mythology, wolves are often associated with chaos. They pose a threat to humans. The best known is the wolf Fenrir, son of Loki. It is he who will kill Odin during Ragnarök, the final battle in Norse mythology.

We also know Sköll and Hati, who are the wolves who pursue the sun and the moon. One day, they will catch up with Sol and Mani (the gods representing the sun and moon), and eat them. This will plunge the world into darkness and time will stop ticking. This will then be the beginning of Ragnarök.

However, for some they can also be good companions because this animal gets closer to the dog. This is for example the case of the wolves Geri and Freki, who are Odin's wolves.

We also called the Nordic warriors rabid she-wolves. Because of the power they could express to protect their loved ones.
