Wooden Viking statues

Therewood carvingat the time of the Vikings was very widespread. It even had a name: treskurd or treskjæring. The Vikings loved to engrave the fronts of their houses, temples and markets.

We could even find engravings on boats like longships.

Manufacturing of our statues

Our statues are made of wood and engraved by hand. Each god having his symbols and attributes, it is easily possible to recognize them. For example, the statuette of Odin includes two ravens (Hugin and Munin), as well as the symbol of the Valknut. We will also recognize him by the fact that he only has one eye. Indeed, Odin exchanged his eye for knowledge and universal wisdom.

Once engraved, the statuettes arecovered with oil to protect themand in order to preserve the wood from humidity and time.

The size of the statues varies between 15 and 25cm. For example, on large statues, we will find a base on which the name of the god is inscribed. For smaller statues, the name is written on the back.

If the statue is not in stock, our craftsman will make it upon request. Creation time can vary between 7 and 10 days. If you would like to receive your statue quickly, you cancontact us hereto make sure we already have it in stock.

Altar for Nordic rituals

The Vikings often had special places like forests, trees or rocks as altars.

Most often they made votive offerings there to obtain the favors of a god. Votive offerings are offerings of objects. This can be jewelry or small wooden creations, weapons or even food.

The Vikings could also make animal sacrifices depending on the god you want to address. For example, a goat sacrifice referred to Thor. Indeed, the god of thunder has as acolytes tanngrisnir and tanngnjóstr, two goats who pull his chariot.

Decoration with Nordic statues

Wooden statuettes are excellent interior decorations. They can both constitute an altar when there are several of them, but also serve as decoration on a shelf or at the entrance to your home.

We also offer resin statuettes that can be painted by hand. Ideal for creative minds. To light your interior, you can also opt forviking lamps.
