Odin has two crows, Hugin meaning Thought and Munin meaning Memory. They both travel every day the world of Men, Midgard, in order to report the facts to their master, the king of the gods and the father of all, Odin. The crow is a symbol of wisdom, it makes the connection between the terrestrial world and that of the deities. He accompanies the Valkyries on the battlefields and advises them on the choice of warriors to guide to Valhalla. What Odin is most afraid of is losing Munin. This is explained by the fact that thought is nothing without memory.
