The Legend of Tyr and Fenrir
Fenrir was a monstrous, gigantic wolf. Only Tyr was able to approach him to feed him. Becoming more and more dangerous, the Gods offered him a game where he had to show his power by trying to break the chain that would hold him. However, Fenrir did not let it go, he broke all the chains to which he was attached. Until the day when the Gods were able to find an unbreakable chain as fine and flexible as a silk ribbon. Fenrir instinctively distrusted this new chain and asked as a token of his deliverance that one of the gods place his hand in his mouth during the ordeal. The gods hesitated but only Tyr held out his right hand. The wolf was therefore tied but could not break his bonds. When the gods refused to deliver him, he cut off Tyr's hand, out of vengeance, rage and spite.
