The Deep Serpent, Jormungand
Jörmungand and Thor meet when Thor goes fishing with the giant Hymir. When Hymir refuses to provide Thor with bait, Thor knocks the head off Hymir's biggest ox to use as bait. They row to the point where Hymir often sits and catches flatfish and raises two whales. Thor demands to go further out to sea and does so despite Hymir's protest. Thor then prepares a strong net and a large hook and the bait with the ox's head, which Jörmungand bites. Thor pulls the snake out of the water and fights.
