Drakkhar, dragons and myths
Dragons have an important place in Norse mythology. They are a symbol of strength, wealth, terror and power. They are found everywhere. First on the bow of Viking ships. Which will give them the name of Drakkar. But also in mythological stories. The three best-known Norse dragons are Jormungand (serpent/sea dragon), Nidhogg (dragon that gnaws a root of Yggdrasil), and Fafnir (dragon that guards cursed treasure).
Characters who managed to defeat a dragon were considered true heroes. This is for example the case of Sigurd against the dragon Fafnir. This wooden shield is a great Viking decoration. It is made by a craftsman and is a perfect replica of a Viking shield.
