The 3 dragons of mythology
According to Viking mythology, 3 dragons would have existed, Nidhogg, Jormungand and Fafnir. Nidhogg, also called the Devil of Evil, has the sole desire to destroy the universe by gnawing at the roots of Yggdrasil. Jormungand, is one of the sons of the god Loki. It is a dragon-serpent which was thrown into the ocean of Midgard. He grew so big that he bit his tail as he circled this world. Finally, Fafnir was originally a powerful dwarf who seized his father's treasure by murdering him and who later transformed into a dragon in order to protect him. The beneficent or evil nature of the dragon has never been recounted within Norse mythology. He was considered a strong, brave, dangerous and aggressive creature. What is known is that the Vikings decorated their ships with dragon heads in order to scare their opponents.
