The Tree of Night has many other names. The best known is that of the Tree of Life. Within Scandinavian mythology, this Tree of Night is named Yggdrasil literally meaning, "Destrier of the god Odin". It connects the nine worlds through its roots and branches. According to mythology, Odin hanged himself for nine days and nine nights in order to learn the secret of the runes dealing with the overpowering natural elements.
